Terms of Service
Last updated: June 4, 2026
Who we are
Volta is a real-time bilingual live caption and translation service for places of worship. By creating an account or using Volta you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
What you can use Volta for
Volta is designed to help churches caption and translate live services. You're welcome to use it for any spoken-word event your church puts on — sermons, classes, weddings, funerals, conferences.
Your account and your church
When you create a church on Volta, you become its owner. You can invite admins and operators. The owner is responsible for billing, for deleting the church, and for what the people you invite do with it. Keep your sign-in email secure.
Acceptable use
Please don't use Volta to caption things you don't have the right to caption, to harass anyone, to break the law, or to attack our systems. We may suspend accounts that do.
Uptime
We work hard to keep Volta running during your services, but we can't promise it will never go down. Volta is provided "as is."
Pricing and credits
Volta uses pay-as-you-go credits. One credit covers roughly one minute of live captioning. Subscription plans include a monthly credit allowance that rolls over month to month while your subscription is active. Top-up packs are one-time purchases and do not expire while your church is active.
Prices and credit conversions may change. We'll give you notice before changing pricing on an active subscription.
Suspension and termination
You can cancel your subscription anytime from the billing portal. You can delete your church anytime from Settings; deletion goes through a 7-day grace period and then permanently removes your transcripts, members, and credit history. We may suspend or close an account that violates these terms.
Our intellectual property
Volta's name, software, and design are ours. Transcripts and any content you put into Volta are yours.
Liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, Volta's total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for indirect or consequential damages.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the jurisdiction where Volta's operating entity is based. Disputes will be resolved in those courts.
Changes
If we change these terms in a material way, we'll let you know in the app or by email.
